01 / About

I make art, and I look after it.

Atelier Hajj is the name I work under. My practice moves between making new work and caring for pieces that already have a history.

Most days begin with looking. I pay attention to surface, weight, damage, colour and the small details that tell me what a piece needs. Sometimes the answer is to add something. Sometimes it is to leave it alone.

This is temporary copy while I prepare my full biography. I’ll add my background, training, exhibitions and the experiences that have shaped the work.

Conservation

Careful work that respects how an object was made, how it has aged and what should be preserved.

Process

Notes from the studio: what I’m working on, what I’m learning and the questions I haven’t answered yet.

“I try not to force the work. I look, make a decision, step back and look again.”
